I am a big fan of laptop computers. I have always solely used a notebook as opposed to a big desktop setup. I don’t know why, I think I just like to be mobile. Anyway, I was recently in PC World looking at the new laptop range from Sony and was literally amazed at how little laptop computers have changed since the first Sony Vaio I bought 10 or so years back. I mean sure, the overall specifications such as processor speed, disk space and memory have increased greatly, but the overall design style hasn’t. I mean sure, the introduction of the thin and light laptops along with a large 17 laptop wouldn’t have been possible 10 years ago, but the standard 14/15″ notebooks look pretty much the same as they did all them years back, especially the IBM / HP and Sony models. I would have really expected to see something a little more modern on the shelves from the major PC players. It only looks like it’s Apple that is making an effort with modern, stylish design. Hopefully the 2009 laptops released by the other major players will follow suit and offer high spec laptops that don’t just perform well but look good too.
